Cosmetic Dentistry in Dallas - Orthodontics

in Dallas, Texas

Orthodontics is a specialized area of cosmetic dentistry that deals primarily with the study and treatment of malocclusions (improperly aligned bites). Dr. Gary Alhadef has completed advanced courses and training in orthodontics and we are proud to offer orthodontic care for both children and adults to our patients.

Early intervention is the key to success for children in correcting improper skeletal and dental arch development. Corrective dental appliances can help your child develop a more natural, esthetic smile.

Dallas cosmetic dentist, Dr. Gary Alhadef, can transform your smile into a straighter, whiter, brighter smile by performing any number of cosmetic dental procedures in his Dallas office.

Why Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is the dental specialty that diagnoses, prevents and treats dental and facial irregularities. Straight teeth help an individual to effectively bite, chew and speak, and straight teeth contribute to healthy teeth and gums. Properly aligned teeth and jaws may alleviate or prevent health problems, also. And we all know that teeth that are straight and work well also look better than teeth that are not straight.

Straight teeth are much less prone to tooth decay, gum disease and injury than crooked teeth, and straight teeth collect less plaque. Plague is a colorless, sticky film composed of bacteria, food and saliva that collect on your teeth. Decay results when the bacteria in plaque feed on carbohydrates we eat or drink to produce acids that cause cavities. When teeth are properly aligned by orthodontic treatment by Dr. Alhadef, these risks decline.

When teeth are properly aligned, it is much easier to keep them clean. Injuries to teeth that are protruding are much more likely to occur; when repositioned and aligned with other teeth, these teeth are most probably going to be at a decreased risk of fracture.

Orthodontic problems can cause abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints, sometimes leading to chronic headaches or pain in the face or neck. Treatment by orthodontics to correct a problem early may be less costly than the restorative dental care required to treat more serious problems that can develop years later.

Whether you are an adult or a child, Dr. Alhadef can use orthodontics to fix your smile and improve the overall health of your mouth.
