Orthodontics in Dallas TX
Orthodontics is a specialized area of cosmetic dentistry that deals primarily with the study and treatment of malocclusions (improperly aligned bites). Dr. Gary Alhadef has completed advanced courses and training in orthodontics, and we are proud to offer orthodontic care to both our children and adult patients.
For children, early intervention is the key to success when correcting improper skeletal and dental arch development. Corrective dental appliances can help your child develop a more natural, esthetic smile.
Cosmetic dentist, Dr. Gary Alhadef, can transform your smile into a straighter, whiter, brighter smile by performing any number of cosmetic dental procedures in his Dallas office.
Orthodontics is the dental specialty that diagnoses, prevents, and treats dental and facial irregularities. Straight teeth help an individual effectively bite, chew, and speak, and straight teeth contribute to healthy teeth and gums. Properly aligned teeth and jaws may also alleviate or prevent health problems. And, we all know that teeth that are straight and work well also look better than teeth that are not straight.
Straight teeth are much less prone to tooth decay, gum disease, and injury than crooked teeth, and straight teeth collect less plaque (a colorless, sticky film composed of bacteria, food, and saliva that collects on your teeth). Decay results when the bacteria in plaque feed on carbohydrates we eat or drink, producing cavity-causing acids. However, when teeth are properly aligned by orthodontic treatment from Dr. Alhadef, these risks decline. It is also much easier to keep teeth clean when they are accurately aligned.
Conversely, protruding teeth are much more likely to incur injury. However, when correctly repositioned and aligned with other teeth, these protruding teeth will most likely be at a decreased risk of fracture.
Orthodontic problems can cause abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on the gum tissue and on the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints - sometimes leading to chronic headaches or pain in the face or neck. Using orthodontic treatment to correct a dental problem early may be less costly than the restorative dental care required to treat more serious problems that can develop years later.
Whether you are an adult or a child, Dr. Alhadef can use orthodontics to fix your smile and to improve the overall health of your mouth.
