What is dental bonding?
Dental bonding is a versatile cosmetic dentistry procedure that is used to correct many different aesthetic problems people have with their smiles, including chips, gaps, breaks, cracks, and other issues.

Dental bonding uses composite resin that is similar to putty to reshape or correct the problems you are suffering form. Dental bonding is tooth colored, and hardened with a special light to provide a seamless restoration.

How is dental bonding applied?
Dental bonding is one of the easiest and safest procedures Dr. Alhadef performs in his Dallas, Texas studio. For many patients, anesthesia isnít even needed to perform the procedure.

For the dental bonding procedure, Dr. Alhadef will etch the surface of the tooth that is receiving the dental bonding. This is performed with a small amount of acidic solution, and it allows the bonding to better adhere to the tooth.

Than, Dr. Alhadef will match the color of the dental bonding to the color of your teeth so that the bonding is indistinguishable from the natural tooth tissue. If you teeth are being whitened, a lighter shade of bonding will be used.

Finally, the dental bonding is applied in layer to the tooth. After each layer is applied, a special, high-intensity light is used to cure the bonding and harden it. After the bonding has been applied, Dr. Alhadef will sculpt and polish the bonding so that it perfectly matches and corrects your tooth.

While dental bonding is very versatile, it is best used for small correction to your smile. For more extensive problems, solutions like porcelain veneers, dental crowns, or instant orthodontics may be better suited.

Do I need to take special care of my bonded teeth?
Generally, no, special care is not needed for dental bonding. It is a good idea to stay away from harsh toothpastes and hard toothbrushes to make sure the dental bonding does not dull. It is also important to maintain good dental hygiene and visit Dr. Alhadef regularly for dental check ups.

How long will my dental bonding last?
Depending on how well you care for your teeth, dental bonding can last anywhere from 5 to ten years. If you become unsatisfied with the appearance of your dental bonding, you can come back to Dr, Alhadef to have it touched up anytime you like.

How much will my dental bonding cost?
The cost of your dental bonding will depend on a number of different factors including the number of teeth being bonded and how much bonding they each require. Dr. Alhadef is proud to offer financing options so that your dental bonding is affordable.
